Pretend That I Care (Digipack)
Pretend That I Care was supposed to be edited as a vinyl, but the band later decided to create a digipack set instead. Since this is the second design work I have done for The Lemon Lovers this time I went for a more classic approach to fit the album’s concept.
Concept
The main idea was to isolate a few elements of the cover photo (by André Farias) and visually work them, giving them a life of their own. I painted abstract nature motifs similar to the ones on the carpet and on the same shade of pink as the sofa´s pillow flowers. I also used the sofa’s pattern on the CD tray in black and white.
Design Elements
The booklet features stills of the band from a video filmed by Miguel da Santa and Luís Costa. I wrecked the cover photo and included the messed up images on the back cover. My idea was to convey a sense of invisible movement, making the audience feel that someone should be sitting there. I also drew some bugs and creatures inspired by the song “Automed” to distribute throughout the booklet.
